In 1988 work began on this sport in the City of Havana, the first track complex called Raúl Díaz Arguelles was constituted to participate in the Pan American Games in Havana 91. With only two years of experience it was included in the Pan American Games the skating participating in the three modes and being the most prominent mode of figure skating with a silver medal in women 's singles, awarded to Ana Rodriguez for their successful and have experience in it.
